How to Install missing MSWord converters
When Converting MS Word files to ASCII - and you can't find the converter you need...
This applies to older versions of MSWord (before Word 2000) then please Click Here for your instructions, because this page doesn't apply to you. MS-DOS Text with Line Breaks (*.txt) -or- Text Only with Line Breaks (*.txt)
Not all text converters are included int the "Typical" or "Custom" MS Word installation. If the file format you need isn't in the Save as type: box, the converter is not installed. When you installed Word, you chose to perform a Typical, Custom, or Compact installation. If you chose Custom, you may have cleared the Converters And Filters option. Insert your Microsoft Word CD-ROM
Run the Setup.exe program located in the root directory of the CD-ROM You will see something that looks similar to this: (depending on your version of Word) ![]() Click the Add Remove button. ![]() Select Converters and Filters from the Left Pane Then press the Change Option... button in the Right Pane ![]() Select Text Converters from the Left Pane Then press the Change Option... button in the Right Pane ![]() Press the Select All button in the Right Pane Press the OK and Continue buttons as required until all of the converters you have chosen are installed.
