Using ProEDIT to clean up your ASCII file
After converting Word or WordPerfect file to ASCII, use ProEDIT to fix missing Page Breaks.
There MUST be a PAGE BREAK at the bottom of Each and Every Page in the ASCII file! ProEDIT has an Auto Page Break Advance feature that makes this an Easy Job. Open your converted ASCII file in ProEDIT
Add any missing Page Breaks to the Testimony Pages
Turn Auto Advance ON, then Add Page Breaks to the Testimony Pages

Press Ctrl and Enter keys at the same time to Insert a Page Break. ![]() The Page Break has been Added, and the Cursor Moves Down 25 Lines. ![]() The Cursor is now positioned EXACTLY where it should be to Add the next Page Break. Press Ctrl Enter until all of the Testimony Pages have their Page Breaks. Add Page Breaks to the Title and Certificate Pages
Turn Auto Advance OFF, then add Page Breaks to all of the Title and Certificate Pages
![]() Proceed to add all page breaks to the Title and Certificate pages. It doesn't matter if there is a page break at the end of file. There MUST be a PAGE BREAK at the bottom of EVERY PAGE in the document! ( But -- It doesn't matter if there is a page break at the end of file.)
Your ASCII is now ready for Condensing and Indexing - also to distribute to an attorney. You can now run ProTEXT" (or you can enable "Options", "Run ProTEXT on Exit"). see also: Converting older versions of MSWord to ASCII.
